Referring Physicians

What type of clients are most appropriate for a referral to New England Home Health Care?

NEHHC provides in long term home care for clients who are elderly, disabled, or chronically ill, as well as short-term care for clients recovering from surgery, illness or injury.

What specific services does NEHHC provide?

New England Home Health Care caregivers, most of them CNAs, provide "hands on" client care, as directed by a written plan developed by a supervising RN. General services include:

  • Bathing and toileting assistance
  • Hair, skin, nail and oral care assistance
  • Medication monitoring
  • Meal preparation
  • Light housekeeping and laundry
  • Transportation to and from medical appointments
  • Companionship and emotional support

NEHHC also provides private duty RNs and LPNs for clients requiring a more advanced skill level, such as IV therapy, basic wound care, and administration of medication and injections.

What level training and certification do NEHHC caregivers have?

Unlike many home health care providers, New England Home Health Care is state licensed, requiring us to adhere to rigorous staffing and safety standards. Most of our home healthcare staff are CNAs; a small percentage are PCA / PSSs; We also employ RNs and LPNs for assignments requiring a higher skill level. A supervising RN administers and monitors each client's plan of care.

Are New England Home Health Care services covered by Medicare?

No. New England Home Health Care accepts private pay and insurance. Most of the in home services we provide are not covered by Medicare. Those home services that are covered by Medicare must be provided by another healthcare provider. NEHHC often works cooperatively with such providers.

Do you provide round the clock care?

Yes. New England Home Health Care is equipped to provide in home services up to 24 hours per day, 7 days per week for both short and long-term assignments.

Do you provide temporary in home care for post-surgery, post-accident, or post-partum?

Yes, all of the above.

Are there any type of clients you don't work with?

No. We work with clients from the able-bodied to bedridden, with a variety of needs and diagnoses, from Alzheimer's to Cystic Fibrosis. Our staff assists mothers in caring for infants in their first days of life, and have been there as many of our clients have taken their last breath.

Do clients need a physician's referral in order to receive your services?

For the most part, no, although some insurance carriers require it. We encourage physicians to make a referral in all cases, as this greatly increases the likelihood the client will follow through with your recommendation of in home health services. We will, of course, incorporate your orders in our plan of care.
